Members of The Association of Tibetan Journalists

The members of The Association of Tibetan Journalists elected the fourth executive committee at a meeting at the Community Centre, Mcleod Ganj, India, on 22 May 2005.

Fifteen members in attendance elected the committee and the elected members decided upon the following designations among themselves.

Lobsang Wangyal: President
Lungrik Gyal: Vice President
Yeshe Choesang: Secretary
Serta Tsultrim: PRO
Dukar Bum: Treasurer

The new committee will continue the work of drafting the Rules and Regulations for Tibetan Media, which will be an attempt to have clear-cut and extended clauses to the existing Article 12 of the Tibetan Charter, which states that the Tibetans have the right to "Freedom of Expression".

However, due to the ambiguity of the Article, Tibetan media face inherent problems from time to time. The draft will be further discussed among the members of the Association and upon finalisation, it will be presented to the exiled Tibetan parliament for possible approval as annexure to the ambiguous aforesaid Article.

The committee will also address the current problems of the Tibetan journalists to the Kashag, and work on a budget to convene a workshop.

The previous committee members were successful in registering the Association as a Charitable Trust and in issuing a Press identity card for all the members.
