Aims and Objectives
The Association of Tibetan Journalists is an independent non-profit making organisation whose aims are to: Facilitate free, fair and accurate delivering of information regarding activities relating to the Tibetan community, both within and outside of Tibet. Function as a monitoring agency of the Tibetan Government in Exile, regarding the democratic processes implemented. Ensure the welfare and professional indemnity of Tibetan journalists within their professional jurisdiction.
Objectives:
- To support the needs of Tibetan journalists in providing a professional level of journalism.
- To protect the democratic right of freedom of speech.
- To bridge the gab between the government and the people through the dissemination of information, and by providing a forum for discussion on issues of national interest and other related activities.
- To inform the scattered Tibetan community of the evolving strategies of our freedom struggle.
- To provide fair and accurate news of the situation and developments within Tibet.
- To promote dialogue between Tibetans and other cultures.
- To carry out research and analysis on Tibetan issues.
- To provide training in various fields of communication technology.
- To function as the centralised advertisement agency to disburse advertising and other paid notices in Tibetan media outlets. (to be discussed in the next meeting of the ATJ)
- To inform and make available to members and concerned others government press releases and information which are of national interest.
